Shurman Media

Media for the modern citizen.

TOP STORIES

Shurman Media is an experimental, AI-automated news site. It is owned, edited and answered for by one person.

Mike Shurman

Owner and Editor

Mike Shurman is a web, systems and AI technologist and the owner of 2Tech Computing Inc., a Maple Ridge, British Columbia technology company founded in 2020 that provides managed IT, computer repair, custom systems, networking, cybersecurity and web design across BC. He built the newsroom that produces this site and he sets its editorial policy, its sections, its standing instructions and its sources. Every article the automated checks hold back is read and decided by him. Corrections, complaints and tips go to him at editor@shurman.ca.

Shurman Media Desk

Byline

Articles carry the byline Shurman Media Desk. That is the name of an automated process, not a person: a research model finds the day’s stories, a writing model drafts an original article, checking models verify every citation against the page it points to and test the draft for copied text, and the editor above owns the result. The full process is described in the Editorial Policy and the AI Disclosure.

Why an experiment

This site exists to find out whether an automated newsroom with a declared point of view, machine-verified citations and a human editor can produce news worth reading, at a cost an individual can carry. What works and what fails will be reported on this page as the experiment runs.

Publisher

2Tech Computing Inc., Maple Ridge, British Columbia, Canada. Ownership and funding are set out on the Ownership & Funding page.
